TO KEEP OR NOT TO KEEP?

BY HOLLY DOAN

INDECISION CLUTTER :

Clutter that is caused by things you can’t or won’t make a decision about. You are keeping it “just in case”.

I’m assuming that if you are reading this, you are interested in figuring out how to simplify your life and start to make sense of all of your “stuff”.

Well, indecision is your biggest obstacle!

Here are 10 simple questions to ask yourself while going through your things :

1 - DO YOU USE IT?

(like, for real?!)

2 - DO YOU LOVE IT?

(I’m talking true love!)

3 - DOES THIS ITEM MAKE YOU HAPPY?

(if not, why keep it?)

4 - DO YOU HAVE MORE THAN ONE OR SIMILAR ITEMS?

(Unless you are an octopus, you do not need multiples)

5 - WOULD YOU BUY THIS ITEM AGAIN?

(be honest)

6 - IF MOVING, WOULD YOU WANT TO PACK AND THEN UNPACK THIS ITEM?

7 - COULD SOMEONE ELSE USE THIS ITEM MORE THAN YOU?

8 - HOW WOULD YOU FEEL IF ITEM WAS NO LONGER IN YOUR HOME?

(sad? glad? would you ever even miss it?)

9 - DO YOU HAVE A PLACE FOR IT?

If not…

Find a spot or get rid of it!

10 - IF YOU NEED TO ASK SOMEONE ELSE IF YOU SHOULD KEEP IT

. . . YOU PROBABLY DON’T!

PHYSICAL CLUTTER = MIND CLUTTER

Now, decide where to start and get to work, or call someone that will help.. The sense of calm that comes with simplifying

is priceless.
